2019 is a very special year. It represents historically monumental events for the world and our community. This year marks the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, a day that changed the direction of the war, directly impacting our way of life, then and now. This year also celebrates the inception of Hickory Museum of Art, North Carolina’s second oldest art museum.
Hickory Museum of Art was established in 1944 when visionary founding Director, Paul Whitener, declared, “I am going to make Hickory, North Carolina an art center.” The first exhibitions featured works from American artists produced prior to WWII. To commemorate that time period, this year’s theme is titled “Before the War”. This tribute to the museum’s 75th Anniversary celebration will feature a separate display
of various makes (US and European) produced up until 1944.
Of course, everything else about The 7th Annual Autolawn Euroclassic Car Show will be business as usual – an entry by registration, peer-judged show of European classic cars and motorcycles.
If you have a unique, pre-war car that you would like us to consider for our curated “Before the War” exhibit, please contact Event Co-Director, Charlie Zagaroli by email at theautolawn@gmail.com.
