May 15th Autolawn Party Euro Classic Car Show Cancelled

In accordance with the continued mass-gathering restrictions through June 1, 2021, Hickory Museum of Art (HMA) has decided to cancel the rescheduled 2020 event planned for Saturday, May 15th. HMA Executive Director Jon Carfagno said “From the onset of the pandemic, HMA has been focused on the safety of our team and audiences. Our galleries and visitor experience have been redesigned to keep everyone healthy and inspired. Although, we cannot yet present larger events like Autolawn, we hope that participants will visit the galleries that day to experience the “Works by Warhol” exhibition.”

With hope for the future, The Autolawn Euro Classic Car Show will hold its regularly scheduled post-Labor Day Weekend event on Saturday, September 11th. “Although we hate that we’re unable to hold a 2020 makeup event in May, planning is well underway to make our September 11th event better than ever” said Kit Cannon, Autolawn Committee Co-Chair. “In fact, this could be our biggest event yet! We’re really looking forward to seeing people and the cars back on the lawn again.”

HMA will continue to monitor and follow all guidance from NC Governor Roy Cooper and the CDC. Early registration for the September 11th Autolawn event will kick off on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 and run through Thursday, August 19th. This year’s theme features the roadster. A roadster (also known as spider, spyder) is defined as an open two-seat car with emphasis on sporting appearance or character. Traditionally, Autolawn has limited vehicle participation exclusively to European models. However, in recognition of the spirit of the roadster, some American roadster models will be featured in this year’s car show. If you have a roadster that you would like us to consider, please contact Event Co-Director, Charlie Zagaroli by email at

Autolawn offers a wide-range of high quality, original European vehicles in an intimate, yet informal setting, without the pressure of a traditional Concours event. The fundraising event to benefit HMA educational programming features a Euro Classic Car Show, youth judging program, art exhibits, live music, food court, beer garden, and more.
